Next, let’s talk flooring! When choosing the right flooring for your home, it is important to consider these factors: moisture, durability, investment and style. Let’s explore the different types of flooring that we offer and how to choose the right fit for your home.
Laminate flooring is a popular choice for active households. It is quite durable, which is why we include this flooring in your foyer, kitchen and dining areas. We offer many beautiful laminate patterns and choices. The visuals are amazing when compared to wood and at times it can be very hard to tell the difference. A few things to consider though when choosing laminate: We will not install laminate in wet locations; i.e. your bathrooms. Laminate is somewhat louder under foot because it “floats” on a pad, and also requires transition strips between rooms, depending on how far the material extends. Consult your Design Center Professional for more details.
Luxury Vinyl Tile (or LVT) is included in your Owner’s bathroom, secondary full bathroom, rear foyer, laundry room, and powder room. This product is known for its durability, water resistance, and easy maintenance. Tim O’Brien Homes offers you a variety of patterns to choose from. There are some LVT floors that look so much like tile that you have to actually feel them in order to tell the difference.
A rising star in the flooring world is Luxury Vinyl Plank, or “LVP”. LVP is a great choice for all areas of your home, Kitchens, Laundry Rooms, and even Bathrooms. This is due to its durability and water resistance. You will typically not need transition strips when covering large expanses, and can choose from our wide range of finish colors and styles. These products have a great value and great look.
We cannot forget to give a shout out to engineered, or solid hardwood. This classic choice for those who love the look of traditional wood flooring. Solid hardwood is timeless and an advantage to selecting it is that it can be refinished if need be. Solid Hardwood and Engineered wood floors are not suitable for concrete floors, so you’ll want to avoid choosing those choices on your foundation if you are planning on finishing your basement.
A popular choice for baths, outside of our awesome LVT, is Ceramic Tile. Ceramic or Porcelain Tile, comes in a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes, and can be installed in various patterns. It is a unique way to add your personal style to your home, while increasing the durability of your flooring. This type of flooring can be used throughout your space – but is often preferred in bathrooms or mudrooms. Tile can be harder and colder underfoot, so consider adding a heated underlayment if those cold floors bother you.
Carpet is included in your great room and all your bedrooms. It adds immediate warmth and comfort to any home. We offer many different styles and density of carpet.
We have various Carpet Pads available as well. You can work with your Design Center Professional on which one is right for you. Keep in mind that a higher pound pad does not mean softer under foot. Simply put, it’s denser and adds to the longevity of your carpeting.
Flooring, though often overlooked, provides important continuity and warmth to your home. From carpeting, to tile, to solid wood floors, our Design Center offers you the choices you’ll need when choosing the right flooring for each room and space.
